New Cars - French Riviera Update
Our latest update includes over 168 new cars from Renault and Alpine, plus new manufacturer Matra.
Here's a closer look at a small section of the car highlights coming your way in Top Drives Update 27.0 - French Riviera
2019 Alpine A110S
The Alpine A110 blew everyone away when it first arrived thanks to a refreshing focus on light weight and responsive controls over big power numbers and flashy tech. In 2019 the French brand added a bit more spice to the range with the A110S model, taking power from 249bhp to 288bhp and stiffer, more focused suspension. Despite the tweaks it’s actually not that easy to spot an A110S, as it’s only 4mm lower than the standard car; car nerds will spot the new badges and different wheels, though. However, following the ethos of the model overall, the A110S’ simplicity is its greatest strength and it proved to be even more fun than the base model to drive without ruining its comfort and usability in the process.
2025 Renault 5 E-Tech 110kW
Everyone loves how old cars look, but very few of us actually want to own or drive one. That’s why retro revivals are so popular now: you can drive a car that looks nearly as nice as the classic version but with a thoroughly modern powertrain underneath. The Renault 5 is one of the best modern examples, because its design borrows the right elements from the 1970s original while still keeping modern proportions. The formula isn’t let down elsewhere either, since its electric drivetrain is powerful and delivers good range, plus it’s fun to drive and comfortable as well. It’s just a great all-rounder that happens to look fantastic, and there’s even a hot version in the form of the Alpine A290.
1980 Matra Murena
Ask someone to come up with a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car with three seats and most will probably recall the McLaren F1, but true car bores will instead point out that the Matra Murena did it first. Okay, its 1.6- and 2.2-litre engines aren’t exactly soul-stirring but the Murena is still a French sports car icon. It was quick enough thanks to its lightweight fibreglass body and aerodynamic shape, while the well-designed suspension led to superb handling for the time as well. Critics loved it, but quirks like the left-hand drive only layout and parts-bin interior meant it’s now largely forgotten. Let’s not let the memory of the Murena die out – adopt one today!
The French Riviera update also comes with a multitude of rarity changes, RQ changes and car corrections. You can view all of these along with the full list of new cars coming your way in the update here.
