Update 31.1 - Rivals

Posted on

Agents Steel and Agent Edwards have reached a breaking point in their alliance. The System’s stolen police cars have been located, but security details remain scarce. The time to get intel is short, and each Agent believes their way is THE way to get it - and that the other’s approach will just get in the way. These Rogue Agents are now… Rivals!

Top Drives Update 31.1: New Cars & RQ Changes

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Carabinieri

Alfa Romeo has a long history with the Italian military police, the Carabinieri. Fans of the classic movie The Italian Job will remember the Italian cops chasing the hero Minis; they were all driving Alfa Romeo Giulias, and anyone who has been to Italy in the past few decades will recall seeing an Alfa 156, 159, or Giulia with the iconic blue livery and red stripe.

In 2016, the force was treated to a very special new pursuit special, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Carabinieri. It features a 505bhp turbo V6 engine and ultra-sharp handling, allowing police to keep up with all but the most committed criminals on everything from motorways to winding mountain passes.

2025 Škoda Octavia vRS Police Car

Many of the more eye-catching, high-performance cars that you’ll see promoted as police cars are one-offs, made by manufacturers and police forces to promote each other in a mutually beneficial way. The police force gets some goodwill from car fans who might see them in a different light, while the car maker gets to show off its car in a cool new livery.

That’s not the case with the Škoda Octavia vRS Police Car, though, as it’s a real police car available that forces can order as many as they need. Most police forces don’t need a lot of high-performance cars, so it’s not likely you’ll see them every day, but it’s pleasing to know that every so often, you might come across a cop enjoying their vRS squad car’s punchy 2.0-liter turbo engine and precise handling.

2011 Lotus Evora Police Car

Unlike the Skoda Octavia vRS Police Car, you probably won’t ever have seen this Lotus Evora used in an actual arrest. It was briefly trialed on a motorway section in the West Midlands, UK, to help catch the fastest criminals, but in reality, it was always more of a marketing stunt than a real police car.

With a top speed of over 160mph, the Evora would have been the fastest car in the police fleet in 2011, although the big blue lights on the roof probably didn’t help with aerodynamic efficiency. We love how the white, green, and blue police livery looks on the sleek bodywork, though. It’s not clear how the Evora would deal with car-to-car contact in a motorway chase, given the unconventional aluminum chassis construction. Not cheap to replace!

2021 Ford Interceptor Utility

European car makers are only too happy to offer their cars to police forces, but the Americans take it to the next level by producing models specifically designed for police work. The Ford Interceptor is a great example, firstly because it has the perfect name for a police car and, secondly, because it has all the classic elements: beefier construction, a bespoke interior, and better brakes and cooling to cope with the demands of police use.

The current version is no longer based on the Crown Victoria; it is now based on the latest Ford Explorer SUV. In 2021, the latest version was also available with a hybrid powertrain for the first time, keeping fuel costs lower for the state while also providing strong performance.

📌 TAG UPDATES

We’re updating the names of a couple of existing tags to better reflect their themes:

  • Touma’s Collection will be renamed to Sakura Festival.

  • Gunter’s Collection will be renamed to Team Steel.

No changes to your cars! All cars within these tags will remain exactly the same. Your progress, upgrades, and fusions are completely unaffected - only the tag names are changing.

📌 BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a rare issue where, on occasion, in conversation panels, Agent Edwards or Steel would be called Leoni.

  • We've fixed the issue where the speed bump icon wasn't appearing on city streets in the 50-50 Dynamic Weather Tracks. Now the hand selection screen will show speed bumps as intended.

  • Fixed an issue where the first track in the Challenge Set “Rouge Skies (I)” was incorrectly labeled as “Mountain Hairpin” instead of “Mountain Hill Climb.”

  • We've fixed an issue where highlighted tracks were carried over when switching tabs. Now, when transitioning between Objectives Tabs, the achievement track highlight doesn't move.
